Thruster SUP Surf fins for fast flowing turns

The Flow thruster fins were designed to deliver fast and flowing turns. Ideal for advanced and professional SUP surfers looking to carve open faced, shallower sloping or point break waves, these fins help you maintain momentum through flatter and less critical sections. The laidback template with 37.5° of rake (sweep) increases hold and promotes powerful carving turns by helping you engage and flow between sections. This thruster setup was originally developed for Hawaiian waterman Bernd Roediger, who wanted a set of fins to enhance his elegant SUP surfing style. For surfers looking for long rides that ooze with style and flow, these fins will help you engage your rail and feel the power of the ocean.

Full Carbon Construction with LiteCore Technology

The full 24T carbon layup features our carbon-infused LiteCore technology enables us to control weight, strength, and flex precisely. For 2024 we reconfigured the layup – which uses unidirectional and woven carbon layers, increased the number of carbon layers in the base for increased strength and lateral stiffness and incorporated a 3k twill carbon finish to match the look of our surf paddles for cohesive branding. The result is a surf fin which is more responsive, lighter, higher performing and stronger. From only 125 grams per set (4.4 oz) these the lightest surf fins available.

Best For:

Fin Case Like No Other

Included with each fin set is our premium surf fin case which has plenty of padded protection for multiple fin sets, tools, stickers, screws, leash string, fin keys etc. Ideal for travelling, organization and protection. The case has five (5) fin sleeves and a mesh pocket, durable construction and Velcro fastening.

New Branding & Artwork

The new SUP surfing fin sets feature our invigorated branding. The new design concepts will enable us to enhance product and brand image in the years ahead. We changed the color of the rear fins for easy identification and a striking look when installed.

  1. Bernd vs Zane Fins

    ghashimoto7827-September 9, 2021 at 4:48 pm

Having tried the Bernd and Zane fins in thruster setups on my 7’6″ JP surf, the Bernd fins work better for more flowing turns and drive on bigger waves: head high to overhead while the Zane fins work better for throwing tight top turns and cutbacks in a wider range of wave sizes. I’m glad I have both at my disposal depending on surf conditions. Thanks Black Project for producing great hi performance sup surf fins!

What lovely fins! Took it out to my perfect local point break and rides those open faces like a dream. I am 200lbs on a 90L starboard 7’7 x 27″ and makes that board alive, so carvy and holds those walls , oooweeeeee!
    Now I need a future fin set for my Infinity Bline 7’10 x 27″ 85L 🙂

  3. Best SUP Surf Performance Fins

    Kane Johnson-March 30, 2020 at 12:35 pm

I just recently purchased the Large size Bernd surf fins and and they are incredible. I have always been told that find make a huge difference but I’ve never really noticed. These are the first set of fins that have made a noticeable difference. I have used the Futures Colin Mcphillips, the Gerry Lopez fins, and the generic futures fins. I am 6’5” and weigh 235lbs and I ride a custom Hobie 8’8”x30”x4.3” SUP that is shaped like an Infinity RNB model. These are the only fins that have been able to hold when I am putting the board on rail through round house turns. The drive off the bottom when bottom turning is incredible. They help maintain speed and give me 100% confidence when pushing the board to its limits. Thank you for making such a great fin! I highly recommend that anyone looking for one set of fins to carry them through all styles of SUP surf boards and conditions try these out!

By far the best fins set up I have on my 7’7×27 Starboard pro. It allows me to bring out the full potential of my board. Generates speed down the line and makes for smooth round house cut backs. No other fins can’t compete.
