Details of Coverage
Black Project warrants that selected paddles are free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the original date of purchase, when used under normal standup paddling conditions or activities.
This warranty reflects the proven durability, low failure rates, and mature design of these products.
This warranty is a limited warranty and does not affect statutory consumer rights where applicable.
Black Project reserves the right to update or amend this policy as required.
Covered Products
The 2-year limited warranty applies to the following products:
Paddles
Black Project paddles enjoy an exceptionally low failure rate, supported by proven construction methods and, in selected models, serviceable hot-glue assembly that allows efficient component replacement when required.
Fins
Black Project fins are built using high-grade materials and precision pre-preg carbon construction, with tightly controlled production ensuring structural integrity, consistent performance, and long-term durability.
Bags
Black Project bags are purpose-built for repeated use, combining lightweight, water- and abrasion-resistant materials with considered design choices — including Velcro closures over zippers — to reduce failure points, protect performance equipment in transit, and support long-term durability.
What defects are Covered?
This warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship under the product’s intended and reasonable use, including but not limited to:
- Blade breakage or structural failure
- Shaft breakage or structural failure
- Gluing failures, including blade, shaft, or handle connections
- Material or manufacturing defects not caused by misuse or impact
If a valid defect is confirmed, Black Project will, at its discretion:
- Repair the product
- Replace the product or affected component
- Offer an appropriate alternative solution
- Provide direct support or guidance to help resolve the issue efficiently
For example, if you break a shaft and we agree that it is covered under our warranty, we will send you a new shaft, you will need to replace this personally. We do not cover the cost of shipping product back to Hawaii. This is the most cost effective and environmentally sensible method.
What Is Not Covered?
This warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and cosmetic damage
- Normal wear and cosmetic damage
- Damage caused by impact, collision, or abuse
- Damage caused by improper use, storage, neglect, or modification
- Heat damage, sun exposure, or prolonged storage in extreme conditions
- Products purchased second-hand or without proof of purchase
- FoilX or any other Black Project paddles designed for foil use
- Any paddle used for foiling
If a claim falls outside of warranty coverage, we will still work with you to identify a fair and practical solution. Where appropriate, you may access our Lifetime Replacement Parts Policy, which ensures key components remain available at a reasonable cost — supporting repair, extending product life, and reinforcing our commitment to long-term durability.
FoilX and Foiling Use
Foiling places significantly higher and different stresses on equipment than traditional standup paddling.
For this reason, foiling use of any paddle — including FoilX — is not covered under the 2-year limited warranty. However, our Lifetime Replacement Parts Policy ensures key components remain available at a reasonable cost, supporting repair and extending product life within the foiling market.

Adjustable paddles should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water on a routine basis to maintain proper function.
