  1. Worthy Fin Upgrade

    ivanhotspur-August 19, 2024 at 8:01 pm

After a few years I finally upgraded from my stock Starboard fins to the T2. I ride a 23.5 Allstar and a 21’5 Sprint . Definitely faster and step back turns are easier and quicker too . I guess I’m a strong intermediate paddler . No issues at all with stability . Very light well made quality fin .

  2. Transformed paddling

    Philip Chilton-August 27, 2023 at 11:54 am

So light and sturdy. I’m now faster and get so much more speed on the flat.

  3. Tiger 2 Fin Review

    bbarry6186-May 23, 2023 at 2:40 pm

I regularly review gear for several forums and have been a successful flat water and downwind racer for years. I got the T2 about 6 months ago and mate it with an SIC RS 21.5 and 23. First – the BP team has done an awesome job with their table showing numeric attributes of each fin. Having both the T2 and the new Maliko I absolutely agree with their numeric scores. Extremely helpful! Regarding the T2 itself, it is great for buoy turns, ok upwind, stellar downwind in light to moderate conditions, and the absolute bomb for drafting. Never had a fin before that got sucked into a draft like the T2. It begins to sniff it out from greater than a board length away. Just an awesome race fin for light to moderate conditions. I can notch the wind range up a bit by putting the T2 on my RS 23 to gain a bit more stability especially if there is some side chop. Bruce Barry Seattle

  4. TIger

    Ryan Blevins-April 17, 2023 at 3:10 am

Plenty of stability for flat water but is also notably faster than my previous fiberglass ocean fin. Secure fit in the fin box and the storage bag was a great surprise.

  5. Must have fin.

    Paul-February 11, 2023 at 8:28 pm

I have both the Ray V2 and Tiger V2. Both are great fins and you can actually feel the difference. The Ray is excellent when that extra stability is needed but when it isn’t the Tiger just gives that extra speed and manoeuvrability. Very well made , super light. Great fin bag.

  6. Great and Fast

    daniel_obrien76-June 16, 2022 at 2:34 am

I was able to try out the tiger last night durning a training session. I must say it a pretty fast. I was able to using it durning some rougher condition. While paddling into an incoming tide I felt that it was able to keep me paddling a little bit straighter in the first 2miles. I also felt that it was pretty good a turning, I know its not as great as the Condor. But I think in rougher condition this might be the go two.

  7. My go-to fin for the foreseeable future

    t.m.hicks-May 3, 2022 at 10:15 am

Bought this as a step on from my trusty Ray fin which I love due to the stability on my ocean paddles. The Tiger V2 feels “familiar” and stable and still tracks well- I’ve switched to it for my last two 10k races and have recorded my PB times. It’s going to be my go-to fin for the foreseeable future.

  8. Fantastic fin!

    jaylan.tse-February 17, 2022 at 4:14 pm

My board tracks much straighter now and seems to be more stable as well.

  9. Stable fin for the size

    mgicot-October 29, 2021 at 7:00 am

I use this fin with my SIC RS23. It is very stable and fast for the size of the fin. This is my main fin, very efficient.

  10. Makes my Starboard AllStar 'POP'

    billywilliams-April 21, 2021 at 4:26 am

Taking the ‘all conditions’ Starboard Allstar and adding this fin changes the feel of the board completely! The fin adds lift and increases stability when the board hits racing speeds. Compared to the stock fin the board feels tighter and easier to maintain speed and keep the board level. When it is time to turn, the fin’s small profile feels like a quick pivot and go.
I have also got a Maliko for downwinding which really sticks the board to washy and steep waves in my area. The difference between the two fin setups is very noticeable and I feel like I can handle any condition with both in my bag.

  11. Perfect allround fin for me!

    Susanne Eder-Meyer-January 9, 2021 at 11:18 am

I tested the Tiger on my Lightcorp 2.0 in 22″ and 23″. I really like this fin a lot, as it is for me a perfect fin for various conditions. In flatwater very fast (however not as fast as the Condor), but it works also very well when it gets more bumpy where it is still fast and gives you enough stability. Tracking is perfect!! Can really recommend it on my boards 🙂

  12. Tiger

    Nea Lee-December 13, 2020 at 2:14 am

Love this fin, it is my go to fin for all around paddling and racing. When I switched out to a Maliko fin for some ocean work, I ended up selling my Tiger fin with my old board. Needless to say, I had to purchase another one. Love both, but the Tiger is my 1st choice. Also I can’t say enough about the team at Black Project. I’ve been super impressed with the customer service and efficiency of getting products out to customers. Great company with great products.

  13. Tiger fin

    Michael Klos-May 14, 2020 at 11:11 am

This fin is perfect for my flat water racing and training …really enables you to do quick and stable turns . I use it on my starboard sprint and Allstar!

  14. Stable and turns great

    stevea-May 11, 2020 at 11:05 am

I have both the Tiger and the Sonic for my RS and I find the extra depth and area on the tip of the Tiger to add a little more primary stability. Tracking is great even with the Tiger mounted pretty far up in the box. Buoy turns definitely feel easier with the steeper angle and shorter base. The Tiger is now my choice for inside the seawall, Sonic for outside.

  15. Perfect all-around fin

    Damon Toal-Rossi-May 10, 2020 at 10:09 pm

This is my main fin, and I’ve used it for everything from glassy flatwater racing, tech racing, and even some down winding. It’s amazing how stable this fin is for its size, and definitely faster than the stock fin that came with my board (which is also a carbon fin).

  16. Light, Fast, Stable, and Versatile! Never knew how much a difference fins can make

    bgemmill704-May 10, 2020 at 5:33 am

bought this for my 14×23″ board. At first I was nervous I would lose some stability since my old fin was 1.5 inches deeper. The Tiger absolutely surpassed expectations!! Was just as stable if not more stable and faster with the reduced drag. Not to mention better tracking meant more strokes per side. Oh and buoy turns became easier because of the shape when popping that wheelie. You really can’t find anything bad to say about this fin. Light, fast, stable and versatile!

  17. My goto Fin is definitely the Tiger

    Adrian Soper-May 8, 2020 at 8:30 pm

Definitely my goto fin for so many different adventures on my Naish Mailiko paddle board (iSUP), whether it is flat water racing or touring down a river, the straight line tracking and quick responsive turning is awesome.

  18. My Starboard 14’x23.5 tracked so much better, my board was stable... and it was fast!

    Joe Suvak-March 10, 2020 at 11:28 am

At the end of last season, I went from a 14’x26’ to a 14’x23.5, and I was struggling with tracking and stability. I had a very large fin on my Starboard, and got the Black Paddle Project Tiger! I could not be more amazed!! It tracked so much better, my board was stable… and it was fast! I love this fin, and cannot wait to get back out and train with it for the Carolina Cup. A huge thank you to Chris and his team for great customer service and help selecting the right fin for me. I now have my Hydro paddle, and Tiger fin….. and I am ready to compete with Black Paddle Project goodies!!!

  19. I now certainly understand the appeal of owning multiple fins

    Chris Pike-September 5, 2019 at 5:10 am

The Tiger fin seems to retain much of the stability of the Maliko v2, while gaining a bit of maneuverability, but the overall feel is much closer to the Maliko v2 than to the stock fin. Not sure if it’s just in my mind, but the Tiger fin does feel just a bit quicker than the Maliko v2, so I prefer the Tiger over the Maliko v2 when conditions are on the calmer side. The Tiger seems to provide a more stable, and faster platform for buoy turns than the Maliko v2. However, in rough conditions the Maliko v2 is king. I have been super impressed with how Black Project fins have transform the characteristics of my Starboard Allstar and offer the potential for fine tuning by switching back and forth. I now certainly understand the appeal of owning multiple fins and will look to add to my quiver in the future.

  20. I set a new PR for the race!

    Rob Moran-July 2, 2019 at 1:04 am

After several recommendations I got this fin and used it for the first time in The Graveyard at the Carolina Cup. I set a new PR for the race. It tracked as well if not better than most larger fins in the ocean swell and ICW flat water. Super light, stiff and fast. The BlackProject folks were very helpful in the selection and setup. This could be the “quiver of one” go to fin for all conditions for intermediate/advanced paddlers… but why would you want to when they have the Sonic.. which is my next fin… to complete the fin quiver!

  21. The durability of the fin is very good

    Yorgos-February 25, 2019 at 4:47 pm

I have been using the Tiger for 2 years now and I still haven’t found a better fin for my racing and training in flat water as well as in light downwind conditions. The board stays on track and there is a good maneuverability when you’re on the bump or the wave. The durability of the fin is very good and until today I had no issues with that. I would say that it’s the go to fin you can have and can be used in a variety of conditions

  22. The Tiger is very small, but tracks perfectly

    Christoph-January 29, 2019 at 11:49 pm

I got my Tiger fin 2 month ago and I used it quite a lot ever since, but so far only on flat water. All I can say is WOW. I love it. The fin is extremly light and still very strong and durable, really a very special piece of equipment.
The Tiger is very small, but tracks perfectly. The board feels as stable as with larger fins. And I never had a fin before, that makes buoy-turns so easy.
I can highly recommend the Tiger, and I’m pretty sure, you will love it too.

  23. Lighter than other carbon fins I have used

    Dwayne-January 8, 2019 at 6:55 am

First impression of the Tiger fin was incredibly strong for the weight and considerably lighter than other carbon fins I have used. After a few sessions I can say the Tiger tracks as well if not better than larger fins. I felt very little influence of the current I was able to pivot on the tail. Reduced drag, lighter weight, more maneuverable. I’m not sure what else I could ask for. Customer service that we all hope to get is icing on the cake. Looking forward to trying more of your products!
