Black Project’s 2020 Slimline Ergonomic Anti-Twist Adjustable Clamp System
We are pleased to announce that Black Project adjustable paddles will be receiving a significant upgrade with our completely redesigned clamp system.
Effective immediately, this new adjustment clamp will be used on all adjustable paddles leaving our factory. With improved features and a slimline design, we believe this upgrade results in an enhanced paddling experience.
New Design Features
Redesigned for 2020, this ergonomic adjustment system allows your hands to easily slide over the shaft without getting caught on the clamp. And with the lever integrated into the main body of the clamp, it creates a low-profile design that enhances the overall aesthetics of the paddle.
To prevent any unwanted twist, the adjustable shaft features a flat section along one side that perfectly matches up with a corresponding 45mm long (1.75”) flat section on the inside of the clamp. The increased length and surface area of this internal flat section provides a greatly improved fit and enhanced twist-free operation. This larger surface area also greatly reduces the tension required to secure the shaft, thus increasing paddle longevity by limiting the amount of stress put on the joint.
To minimize water and sand intake commonly found in other adjustment systems, we positioned the new lever and pressure clamp above the end of the carbon shaft, eliminating any need for slits or gaps in the shaft and clamp system, this reduces the chances of jamming and wear.
Compatible With Older Models
The SDS version is backwards compatible with our previous anti-twist paddles by simply switching out the clamp. The RDS paddles can be upgraded with a new clamp and extension section. It is also possible to convert your current one-piece paddle into an adjustable, ideal if you upgrade and want to give your existing paddle to a family member or friend. The upgrade takes approximately ten minutes to complete.
If you would like to upgrade your current Black Project adjustable paddle, please get in touch and replacement clamps will be provided, in some cases, free of charge. An instructional video will be posted on our YouTube channel.
The new adjustment system is available in both standard (SDS) and reduced diameter (RDS) options, with either Palm or T-handles.
New paddles are available to order now.
Please get in touch to discuss your specific paddle needs.
